Planting with Gro-ables Seed Pods

Gardening for Kids

Living in NYC, we have small spaces but we try to make the most of it by using what we have. In our house, we have an outdoor area where we plant fresh herbs and hang various plants, but it is really hit or miss with the process - sometimes we have success and other times our plants die. The kids also love to get involved in the growing fun, and we have been using Gro-ables Seed Pods from Miracle-Gro.

Launched this February, this unique new line of 12 Seed Pods includes everything you need to grow successfully such as the growing materials, slow release plant food and a specially selected seed that is placed at the proper depth in a single pod. This includes a selection of herbs and vegetables like bush bean, butterhead lettuce, cherry tomato, cucumber, globe tomato, loose-leaf lettuce, snap pea, spinach and sweet peppers, plus herbs like basil, cilantro and dill. Using this line makes it incredibly easy to for people who have the desire to grow their own food, but may struggle with the process.

The beauty of this system is that all you have to do is peel off the pod's top packaging, plant, water and watch the seeds grow. The seeds are places at the appropriate depth in a growing mix that protects the seed and keeps it moist, so vegetables and herbs are guaranteed to grow with minimal effort on your end. To get started you simply have to choose a sunny spot, place your plant in a container or raised bed and then water them. It's really as simple as that.

As a fun activity to do with the kids, Gro-ables are a great way to teach them how to cook healthy with their very own edible garden.
