Cute LUV Dream Flats

If our little girl had her dreams come true, we would be surrounded by fairies. Tiny pixies who drift along and flitter about in wispy wonder. There's actually some potential for those dreams of hers to come true. Because luckily now she can dance on fairy wings.

LUV Dream Flats are beyond basic flats. Try to stay with me on this description. When you pick you them up, they're so light they feel almost…nonexistent...not there...absent...On some level, they make me question whether Nike has cornered the idea of walking on air.

To put it into terms my daughter might enjoy, they're like picking up fairy wings. Clearly this small company in San Carlos, Calif., wanted to revolutionize the ballet flat and that's what they did. They made shoes as light as fairy wings.

The Lycra upper moves with you and is super stretchy. The EVA bottom is ridiculously flexible, but that doesn't mean your feet are left out in the cold(although I would wait until spring to wear these). There’s a toe cap and technical outsole compound to protect your sweet feet. Although they're super light, I plan on testing their durability everywhere - from the beach to the mall, from the playground to the park.

Adults and youths wear crazy Aztec prints, gorgeous flowers (reminiscent of Marimekko’s red poppies), and playful hearts. Stripes and solids are anything but boring. Shiny silver, fiesta pinks and metallic reds are just a few. Toddlers toddle around in crisscross Mary Janes covered in their own level of sweetness with fairies (an important tribute, of course) and pastel stripes.

The sizes are European, so plan on doing some conversions when ordering (not that heavy a task). But in terms of cuteness, comfort and creative patterns, they are almost from another world. My daughter likes to think it's a world with fairies.

LUV Dream Flats are available for $32-$40 at luvfootwear.com.
