Lenovo Game State Coding Game for Kids & a Giveaway

We just finished our annual science fair project, and it's right around this time that I go into full panic mode wondering if I am enriching my children's learning as much as I could be. As a teacher, I know the value of creating memorable, fun learning experiences and the positive impact they have on the minds of children.

Gaming is was not my thing. I am not really big on screen time for my kiddos either, but after attending a coding class with my children I am convinced of the value online coding brings to the table. The problem-solving, manipulation, calculation, strategy and command following needed to navigate Lenovo Game State are essential to higher order thinking and offers a lot of STEAM educational play value. Although my son is nearly 9 and not quite a tween, we enjoyed the interactive play that Lenovo Game State offered. He found it intuitive, easy to play, interesting and, given the fact that I had to drag him away, it definitely has my vote for being an engaging game. I am all for fun games that foster and strengthen STEAM skills.

Lenovo Game State is a free online destination where kids can register to become part of a Code & Play Adventure powered by Code Combat that teaches them how to code. Lenovo builds its technology to empower young people to become, not just content consumers, but content creators. Tapping into the global S.T.E.A.M. and “Maker” movements, the unique and enriching online learning experience offered free of charge at Lenovo Game State combines the entertainment of traditional computer games with the educational benefits of real code development. Once kids log-in to the Code & Play Adventure at Lenovo Game State they become immersed in the fun of the game, but they're actually spending almost all of their time coding in Python, JavaScript, Lua and CoffeeScript learning real-world programming skills.
