The Force is Strong: Star Wars and General Mills DIY

The Force is strong in my house. I mean, really strong. When General Mills announced that they would be including glow-in-the-dark decals from Star Wars: The Force Awakens in four of their cereals, I got super excited and of course, wanted to collect them all. I mean all the usual suspects are there...R2-D2, C-3PO, Chewbacca, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and a Stormtrooper!

Instead of attaching the decals to my walls (which, I did and was able to remove cleanly and then re-stick elsewhere), I created a simple mobile using card stock, bakers twine, and jewelry wire. First, make a circle with the jewelry wire. Attach another pice going directly across it.

Place the decals on card stock and hole punch the top. I put glow-in-the-dark stars on the backs to add extra light and then threaded them with the bakers twine. Tie the decals onto the jewelry wire ring.

Then cover the ring with duct tape to strengthen it and to keep pointy ends secure.

Put some glow stars on the back and your mobile will be shining bright from all angles.

With the leftover glow stars, I made a glow in the dark sleep mask. With some felt and a left over elastic headband (and of course hot glue), I made this in under 10 minutes.

Fold a piece of felt in half and make a figure eight shape for your eyes. Cut both pieces of felt and separate. Then cut the elastic so you have one long piece.

Hot glue each end to the sides of one of the eye mask pieces. Then hot glue the edges and place the other mask on top sandwiching the elastic. Hot glue the remaining glow-in-the-dark stars in a fun patten. Voila! A perfect Star Wars breakfast in bed.

Check out boxes of Cheerios, Cookie Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Cheerios Multi Grain to collect all six limited edition decals.

You can also create a cereal box fort using boxes and a bed tray. It creates a semi-enclosed spot perfect for a glow-in-the-dark breakfast!
