Being that we live in Florida, my kids pretty much live in swimsuits all summer long. Whether they're going for a dip in the pool, splashing around in the surf or simply running through an old fashioned sprinkler, they're all about getting wet. Haha! So, we have a healthy collection of swim finds that are perfect for any summer occasion where water and/or sunshine is involved.
A good rule of thumb is to have at least two sets of swim looks (swimsuit and rash guard), in addition to accessories like sunglasses and shoes that can get wet, like our go-to Phibian sneaker sandal from Stride Rite, on hand. That way your kids will be ready for whatever water play may come there way! On that note, I've rounded up some of my favorite swim finds for kids. Each and everyone one is on my pool / beach must haves list!
Swimsuit / Rash Guard...Swimsuits are obviously necessary for water fun and my kids love picking out their new suits each year. My daughter may be a tad bit more into it than my sun. She's completely obsessed with her Pink Elephant Swimsuit and Rash Top, but I digress...Haha! For swimsuits and rash guard combos, I love Snapper Rock. Their prints are just darling, plus they fit great and wear well. That's saying a lot considering how much my kids are in them. I've also find that they're perfect for mixing and matching. My son's rash guard is from Target and it goes great with his Boardies.
And then there's function to consider...It can be tough for little ones to tug down a wet swimsuit when it's time to visit the restroom right? That's why Fasten Swim created their patent-pending design with hidden magnets that easily come apart with click for mom or kiddo. They're perfect for diaper wearing babies and little girls alike! The polka dot print was obviously right up my lil' lady's alley.
Best Discoveries When Exploring Bend Oregon
I was completely charmed by my trip to Bend, Oregon. It's a blend of desert and mountain and incredibly cool. The vibe is small town and hip, but it's certainly on the move (they seem to be adding 10,000 new people every year). I made a few new discoveries when exploring Bend and ...read more
Is a Vizsla a Good Dog for Your Family?
Long before COVID arrived, our family decided we were ready for a dog. I grew up with dogs and knew my girls would gain a lot from the experience of owning a pet. Vizslas are wonderful and gorgeous dogs that require a ton of exercise and lot of time. Like me, you might wonder, ...read more
How to Get Kids to Ski for Free in Utah
I know skiing with kids can be expensive. That's why I'm always looking for an angle to save myself and my readers some money. My goal? Get us all out on the slopes more with the kiddos without having to tap into our retirement accounts. Sure, you can pack lunches and get used ...read more
Having budget friendly options is also great. I know I can always count on The Children's Place for adorable swimwear and coverup looks. We're partial to watermelons in our house these days and their watermelon one-piece swimsuit is too sweet for words. We're going to keep it on the car so we're always prepared for a swim! See what I mean about having at two swimsuits? An extra really does come in handy.
If we're going to be out enjoying the beautiful Florida sunshine, we clearly need sunglasses! And not just any sunglasses. We need sunglasses that WORK! Real Kids Shades offers a slew of fun styles like the polarized Storm and Breeze styles that my little ones are wearing and the wrapped look offers protection from peripheral light. I'll do anything to protect those precious peepers!
Finally, we have hair care. Sunscreen is a given, but have you thought about the products you're going to use to wash the chlorine and sand out of their hair? I'm big on natural products when it comes to my kids, so I was thrilled to be introduced to the Sharkey's botanical hair care line. You can feel good about using everything from their shampoo to their all in one wash because the 100% vegan formula is paraben free!
So, there you have it...some of my favorite swim finds for kids. Hopefully my little tips and tricks will help you get ready for a summer filled with all kinds of fun! See you at the beach!
