When I was growing up, my mom always made my sister and dress up on Christmas. At the time, I didn't always love getting all dolled up, especially when I was a teenager. But now that I'm a mom myself, I totally understand why she wanted her family looking their best. Every holiday I now strive to get at least one good photo of my little family...and if we're decked out in beautiful coordinating clothing, all the better. You could say that holiday fashion means a bit more to me than it does the rest of my family. Haha!
Even though we're going to be in up the mountains for Christmas, and most of our vacation will be spent in comfy duds, I totally plan on dressing everyone up in nice clothes on Christmas Day, if not just for a photo sesh. Haha! If I can get my wiggly little cherubs to tolerate fancy getups, great! If not, perhaps a fair isle vibe will work.
Take Ralph Lauren for instance. They offer classic, yet cool pieces, some being appropriate for dressed up holiday style and some being fit for a cozier, comfy holiday at home. Some of our favorites are the fun Cotton Snowflake Sweater and the Cotton Shawl-Collar Cardigan for boys and the super cute Short-Sleeved Reindeer Dress and Tartan Party Dress for girls. Considering where we'll be spending Christmas, the fair isle look might the most appropriate, but then again I'm a sucker for plaid too...
And Oscar de la Renta has some gorgeous plaid options that are just perfect for holiday wear and classic, yet modern at the same time. Oscar de la Renta holiday fashions are preppy and cool at the same time. Some of my favorites for the holiday are the Girls Gathered Sleeve Dress and the Cashmere Pull Over with Boys' Classic Pants for Boys I can so see my lil' lady bean in one of their mixed prints looks. The tartan print from this line would look killer paired with a smaller scale print. Don't you think?
So, no matter what my kiddos' holiday style ends up being on the big day, you can bet I will have drawn inspiration from the Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta collections!
