Favorite Cooking and Food Trends

I love to cook but I have been getting smarter about making sure to prepare meals in advance. From meal planning to cooking tools, here are some of my new kitchen cooking and food favorites.

ORGANIC AVENUE: Recipes for Life, Made with LOVE: My new favorite cookbook is ORGANIC AVENUE: Recipes for Life, Made with LOVE, a beautifully designed and inspiring lifestyle book. Written by Denise Mari (creator of Organic Avenue), this food book contains a collection of recipes for juices, elixirs, soups, smoothies, mylks, tonics, salads, entrees, snacks, and sweets — all using pure, nutrient-rich, organic, and raw ingredients. This includes favorites like recipes for Green Juice, Clearly Coconut Water, and Wonderful Watermelon Juice, Generous Ginger Lemonade, and even sweet treats like Soulful Strawberry Chia Custard that will inspire and change the way you eat.

While we love our juice, we also love coffee every now and again. Our new favorite on-the-go option is High Brew Coffee. As a new fair trade, cold-brew, ready to drink coffee, the coffees are low in calories (50-60 per can) and provide more antioxidants and a smoother taste than the average cup of joe. They also come in 4 flavors- Double Espresso, Mexican Vanilla, Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Mocha that are made from Arabica coffee beans as well as being meticulously cultivated, filtered and canned to offer high quality tastes without the excessive sugars and fats of the standard cold-brew ready to drink coffees. Deliciously refreshing and great for summer, High Brew is our new favorite for a jolt of java.

Bertolli Olive Oil Sprays: For cooking, I have been loving the set of new Bertolli Olive Oil sprays. This includes some flavorful and vibrant flavors such as Extra Virgin, Classico and Extra Light that are great for meats and veggies. I love how they allow portion control for cooking as well as offer a product that is propellant free so that you can enjoy a delicious and flavorful olive oil taste every time.

Caring for Kid's Glasses Tune-Up Tips and Tricks

Wearing glasses makes life just a little more complicated and inconvenient for young children.  My daughter has been wearing glasses since she was two (amblyopia and strabismus) and I feel like I've spent a gajillion dollars on frames and lenses. I've learned a lot along the way more

Bobby Flay Cooking Line : One of my favorite new cooking tools is the Bobby Flay Cooking line from Kohl's. This includes a beautiful and modern collection of tools to get cooking this spring and summer such as the BobbyFlay Acacia Wood Bread BoardBobbyFlay™ Acacia Salad Serving Bowl and the BobbyFlay Acrylic Dip Bowl. For meals, I have been using BobbyFlay™ 13-in. Stoneware Lasagna Pan that features integrated handles and even cooking thanks to the stoneware.

For the kids, we love Vita Coco Kids. They recently partnered with Rio 2 to create two exclusive flavors inspired by the sequel - Blu-berry Beach, named after the main character, Blu the blue macaw, and Gabi’s Pink Lemonade, named after a new character, Gabi the poisonous frog. Thousands of boxes of Vita Coco Kids six-packs contain reward codes that can be redeemed for the price of a child’s ticket to “Rio 2,” valued at up to $8. We also love them because they are free of artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors and preservatives.
