Happy World Music Day! The earlier you introduce your children to different flavors, sights and sounds, the more likely they are to be open to new experiences. Music is one of our favorite ways to introduce our kids to cultures. In celebration of World Music Day, here are some of our favorite CDs to get your kids singing, clapping and dancing to music from around the globe.
Putumayo's motto is "guaranteed to make you feel good!" and is one of our favorite producers of world music CDs for children. The songs are upbeat and joyous and will get the whole family up and dancing. Some of our favorites are World Playground, African Playground, and African Playground, Kids World Party.
Parlez-vous français? Introduce your child to the French language and music with Songs in French For Children which has both new and familiar songs like "Old MacDonald" and "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?"
Looking for something more soothing? Naptime can be the perfect opportunity to introduce new sounds and melodies like with World Baby: Peaceful Celtic Lullabies.
Part of the Wee Sing collection, Wee Sing Around the World includes 44 songs that are sung first in the song's native language and then in English. A great way to help your child to connect to and understand the songs.
Here's another unique option if your child isn't into singing. Multicultural Rhythm Stick Fun has rhythmic beats from Ireland, West Africa, Japan, Russia and more that your child can drum to, clap or use a rhythm stick to.
