I like fruit… I like wine… I like convenience.
So when I heard about California Fruit Wine Co., I was immediately intrigued. This unique company is fermenting all sorts of fresh fruits to create interesting "wine" varietals. and delivering them to directly to doorsteps (and thirsty people!) around the country—because, why should you limit your wine-drinking exclusively to grapes?
I tested the Mango-Pineapple and Pomegranate-Cherry varietals, and they’re both light, bright, refreshing, and delicious. I'm generally not a fan of super sugary wines, but these are surprisingly not cloyingly sweet. That's because the fruit is fermented without adding any artificial colors or flavors—so the wine is simple and all natural.
The key is to drink it very, very cold. You can serve California Fruit Wine straight out of the bottle, poured over ice (my preference), or as a traditional sangria with cut up fresh fruit. I thought both flavors were pretty much a hybrid between a wine and cocktail. And, since I'm generally pretty indecisive about what to drink, I liked that I got the best of both worlds.
Better yet, California Fruit Wine Co. delivers straight to your home, meaning wine-club members can receive either a two-pack ($8 for the first month, $30 in subsequent months) or a four-pack ($16 for the first month, and $52 thereafter) to keep their thirst at bay and get their recommended fruit servings.
A little Pomegranate-Cherry to close out this Saturday night... "Wine not" give it a try?
