What is Espresso
As I started my coffee journey, I went right to espresso. I have always been drawn to the aroma of coffee it's such a delicious way to start the morning. Now that I'm a coffee drinker, I've been learning about the brews. I've learned that not all coffee is the same.
Espresso requires a very fine grind and high pressure of water, resulting in a strong, concentrated, and creamy shot of coffee. Coffee, on the other hand, uses a coarser grind size and less pressure to brew a larger and smoother volume of liquid. I guess I should clarify that I'm an espresso drinker, not a coffee drinker.
Caring for the Tchibo
It's really easy to set up and use the Tchibo. To keep it running smoothly you'll want to clean it on a regular schedule.By taking proper care of an automatic espresso and coffee machine like The Tchibo, your coffee will actually taste better .
Descale your machine as soon as the descale light on the display panel is illuminated – a few times a year, depending on how often you use your machine.
A proper descaling agent, like the Swiss-made Durgol Descaler, will eliminate calcium and coffee residue that builds up over time and make sure your Tchibo stays brewing cup after cup after perfect, piping European cup.
What is an Americano?
I've been learning a lot about coffee through my work with Tchibo. I found out how the Americano got it's name. Back in WWII the American soldiers stationed in Italy wanted something like their pot of coffee back home. (Italian espresso was too intense and cappuccinos were too creamy and heavy.) Legend has it that Italian café owners started watering down their espresso, creating the not-too-intense pick-me-up we know today.
The typical Americano ratio: 2 parts hot water to 1 part espresso (like Tchibo Barista Espresso). You can customize your drink with the Tchibo to get the just rich sip at home.
