Like many of you, I've been doing lots of entertaining this month. I love stocking the house with fresh flowers when I entertain--but I must admit to being floraly-challenged. First see the tulips? That was Thanksgiving. We were away for the weekend without a vase. I sliced open a seltzer bottle, had the girls find some pebbles for the bottom and then plopped in the tulips--all in $15 but not what you would call a masterpiece.
My next venture was at an event. I used up about 36 carnations making this festive red flower bomb. Pretty fun, but requires time and a foam mold and looks a little bit like a helmet. That's the limit of my talents.
Making gorgeous mixed flower arrangements like this one on the left from 1800Flowers.com is beyond my skill set. So I rely on floral pros to help me out. I've been a fan of 1800Flowers.com for over a year now and have sent quite a few bouquets from them. They help busy moms pull together gifts and decor efficiently. In fact they have holiday gifts starting at $19.99.
