Most of the Momtrends community knows that I love running. As a means to stay fit, it can't be beat for convenience or price. The mental health aspect is also HUGE. Each mile on the road melts away the tantrums, client issues and stress of modern motherhood. One thing I haven't tackled when I talk about running is giving back. Did you know you can have an impact on cancer! Join Team in Training (TNT) and run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon (NWHM) in San Francisco on October 19. You’ll be helping The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fund research to advance lifesaving blood cancer treatments.
Many new runners get frustrated by poor training plans, boredom and lack of motivation. Signing up with Team in Training cures all of that: They provide comprehensive training programs to keep you healthy and on track for your big race. Injuries happen when you over-train or add on mileage too fast. With a great team behind you all you have to do is put in the miles and the smiles.
Forget about boring long runs. You'll have a friend with you every step of the way to cheer you on and help you keep pace. Need a reason to lace up for those early morning runs or for the 17+ marathon routes? Think about saving lives! I know when I run and see wheel chair athletes, blind athletes--anyone who's had to overcome more than simply being exhausted--and I find a second wind. Think of this program as the biggest second wind you'll ever get.
Team in Trainingis the flagship fundraising campaign for LLS, and the NWHM in San Francisco is always sold out (we've got a ticket--but more on that later!). At its 25th anniversary last year, TNT has trained more than 600,000 participants and raised more than $1.4 billion. With TNT, in exchange for raising funds, you’ll train for four months with world-class trainers, have access to clinics on nutrition and injury prevention and race through San Francisco’s iconic landmarks.
