This month is all about celebrating and learning how to better take care of our hearts. This is critical, since during a recent event, we learned that heart disease is the number one killer of women. The key is prevention, being active and enjoying heart-healthy foods.
Slip on your support: Tieks (our favorite flats) is teaming up with the American Heart Association to help educate women about heart disease. With every fashionable step you take in your Cardinal Tieks you are helping to spread the word that heart disease is the #1 killer of women. Did you know heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined and can be prevented! Walk in style and support women.
Here are a few more of our favorites:
Support Go Red For Women: A major way that you can support heart health month is by educating yourself and your friends and family members about Go Red For Women. On this informative website you can learn ways on how to know your risk, live healthy, and get involved.
Wear Red Lips: In addition to wearing red, you can rock some red lips from Elizabeth Arden and their new Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick and Beautiful Color Precision Glide Lip Liner. These luxurious and modern lip products contain a powerful blend of skincare ingredients, emollient butters, and vitamins that condition lips for all day moisture and long-wear color.
Support Through Fashion: To support the Go Red movement you can also support Jewelry Television and their Love Your Heart, a comprehensive, multimedia campaign created to raise awareness and educate viewers about the risks of heart disease, and raise funds to support the Go Red for Women® movement. Through this campaign, you can shop for the cause, contribute financially, learn the risks, wear red and commit to a healthy lifestyle. For more information, please visit JTV.com/GoRed.
Power of Purple: To get us and our kids heart healthy, we love enjoying Welch's Grape Juice. In fact, more than a decade'sworth of research suggests that drinking 100% grape juice made with Concord grapes can help support a healthy heart. Personally, I love that these juices contain 2 glasses of fruit in every serving with no added sugar. We also use them to make smoothies where I boost the nutrients with kale and carrots.
Get Moving: Did you know that childrens cardiovascular fitness is declining at alarming rates worldwide? In the US, kids cardiovascular endurance declined about 6% per decade between 1970-2000 per a recent study by the American Heart Association. To get kids' moving we love the ibitz by GeoPalz, a colorful pedometer and activity tracker for the whole family. During CES we had a chance to check this out and we loved how children and adults can set goals together to earn cool activity rewards such as games and contest from Disneys Club Penguin. How it works is the ibitz is powered by the childs steps where the more active the child is, the more rewards they can earn. Parents can personalize rewards to the child (e.g. an hour of screen time, Frisbee with Dad, a new soccer ball or even a trip to Disney) or choose from a suite of rewards including Club Penguin points, Minecraft GeoPalz server access and rewards, and exclusive Ubooly content created for GeoPalz.
