This Atlanta-based mom is a Internet celebrity--and not for her saucy pictures. Kristen Chase is the Publisher and Chief Operating Officer of the award-winning and wildly popular site Cool Mom Picks. She's also the mastermind behind the Shredhead Community--where moms gather and commit to 30 days of Jillian's fitness program.

Kristen says she started shredding because she had "20lbs of baby weight left to lose and no motivation or interest in exercising." Her fitness makeover from frumpy to fabulous has inspired scores of other moms to get moving. To organize the effort, Kristen launched a new blog called Shredheads. And the response has been phenomenal. Let's find out more about how this red-hot writer mama gets it all done (did I mention she's also got a new book out--Mominatrix?)

Fitness goal for 2010: Aside from maintaining my current weight through a healthy diet and exercise program, I'm hoping to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 2 hours or less.

Biggest fitness accomplishment: I finished my first ever half marathon on Halloween.

I like working out:

a.) alone

b.) with groups

Can I choose "c" - "both!"? There are days when I enjoy the solitude of working out - whether it's running or doing the 30 Day Shred, especially as a mom of three. Moments alone are precious. However, working out in a class and with a running partner is a great way to get and stay motivated, and it's certainly been an important part of my routine.

You can find me:

a.) at the gym

b.) on the mountain

c.) in front of my favorite DVD

d.) with my wii

a and c, though you could say my hilly neighborhood is like b. I recently joined a gym and use it mostly for their fitness classes. I get pretty bored with cross training and so taking a kickboxing and spinning class helps keep me fresh.

My favorite time of the day to workout:If I don't get it done in the morning, I have a hard time getting it done at all.

My sneaky fitness trick:I don't just work out in the morning because it gets it out of the way. It's also a great way to start your day metabolism wise. Plus, if you do it before you're weighed down with a day's worth of food, you're actually giving your body a great beginning to a full day of burning calories.

Why I workout: Initially, I started working out to drop the last of my post partum weight so I could fit into a bridesmaid's dress. But after the wedding came and went, I found that working out completely changed my mood and my relationship with my husband. The changes to my body (I've lost 45lbs since March 2009) are almost secondary to how much better I feel about myself and my marriage. Note I said "almost secondary." Fitting into a pair of jeans I haven't worn since before I had kids feels pretty darn good too.

Favorite fitness brand (shoe, apparel, etc.):I actually don't have a favorite brand. I was fitted for running shoes and they happen to be Nike Pegagus - Bowerman Series, and picked up a pair of Nike running shorts while I was there that seem to have become my staple workout clothes. I love Lucy.com yoga pants, but other than that, I grab old shirts and go. As much as I love fashion, I can't rationalize spending too much money on workout clothes. I will, however, spend money on products (like socks, sports bras, and shoes) that will inevitably prevent injury.

I'd like to try ____________ this year to keep my routine fresh.I've heard Jillian Michaels talk about "kettle bells" and I'm curious to see what that's all about.

Best workout song ever:I recently added "Jump" by House of Pain. I'm a fool for early 90's music, and this song definitely helps motivate me. And you can't beat the irony when it comes on at mile 12 of your half-marathon.

A typical week's worth of workouts looks like:I generally do three days worth of running - two days of 3-4 miles and then one long run per week (6 + miles) if I'm training for a 10K or half marathon. The other days I do a 60 minute kickboxing class or rotate the 30 Day Shred. I don't really ever do two of the same workouts in a row, and I always make sure I have a couple of rest days.

I stay motivated by:My fellow Shredheads - the blog I started to chronicle my experience with the 30 Day Shred back in March 2009. While I haven't met many of them, they help me stay focused. And I admit that I'm pretty competitive. When I see that they've worked out and I'm feeling lazy, they motivate me to get off my butt.
