Mommy Time Monday: Bike Tours for Moms

Image placeholder title

Its been decades since I've owned a bike, and I've been having a blast with the CAAD 9 from Cannondale. My latest adventure was the Tour of Litchfield Hills in NW Connecticut. A fellow Brooklyn mom joined me on the 30-mile course on Sunday and for 2+ hours we climbed hills and talked motherhood, fitness and life.

The scenery was fantastic--rolling hills (did I mention the hills? There were many of them) and stretches of roads that we cycled for miles and miles without seeing a car. Sure a morning ride is always a treat, but this one also had a worthy cause--funding cancer research. A young leukemia survivor was the honorary starter for our event. Her motto during chemotherapy--"Can do it." My sentiments exactly as climbed and climbed (yes, again with the hills) Next year we tackle the 50 miler!

Now here's my pitch for you moms that have been busy shuttling the kids off to camp, organizing craft projects and t-ball games. Have you had your fill of fun? Summer is slipping away. Have you done everything you've wanted? It's not too late to plan a girls night out to see Eat, Pray, Love, sign up for a 5K or bike tour, or plan a girls getaway. Take a moment and savor the sweetness of these last few weeks school will be here before you know it.
