Best of Beauty on the Red Carpet

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Zooey Deschanel

On Sunday night the ladies of film and television were dazzling at the Golden Globes. Working with @PGBeauty and @SavvySassyMoms I tweeted the night away talking about red carpet trends for out #PGRedCarpet twitter party. For the most part, the ladies were completely dazzling, the gowns were delightful and the makeup and hair flawless.

When it comes to fashion trends we spotted a few--lots of sheer gowns, accents of lace and fiery reds and oranges. And for the beauty trends? The updo was lovely on so many actresses as was SHINE. Lashes were super important this year. They worked well with smoky eyes and strong matte lips.

I was closely watching the ladies, not so much to see who won and who didn't but to see how they pulled together a look. Zooey Deschanel, spokesmodel for @Pantene, was one of my favorite looks of the night. She was young, fresh and perfect in her Oscar de la Renta gown. Wearing the color of the moment, she made it her own by adding a flirty pony. I thought her hair was so natural and shiny--she really dazzled. This is an example of an actress looking comfortable in her own skin and in her dress.

In addition to the fresh-faced young actresses, I loved the old-school romance and glamor of some of the women we've been watching for years. Best actress nominee Naomi Watts really had an amazing head-to-toe look. Her side-swept hair was definitely a trend. And I think we'll be seeing more of the deep side part and off-set bun. The Zac Posen gown was a perfect pick for this actress--it suited her skin color. Taking a page from Naomi, I'll be trying more updos like this one as I get dressed up this year.

For looks like this, I'd recommend Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Touchable Volume Hairspray. I've been testing this non-Aerosol hairspray and can say it delivers flexible hold. Over the weekend, I swept my hair up in a partial updo and it kept my look pretty without being stiff (and oh boy did we see some stiff hair on other actresses)

Now let's talk about flawless faces we saw. I liked that many of the women kept the makeup classic and let the dress do the main talking. Sofia Vergara, spokesmodel for @COVERGIRL, was so sexy in her shimmering in black. The neckline was perfect for her figure and showed off all her curves (can you believe this woman is 40!). She kept her makeup very simple. She went for bold, long lashes and a strong matte lip in red. Lashes and lips was the big red carpet trend. It lets the dress and flawless skin shine through. To get my lashes looking fabulous, I've been using COVERGIRL Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara. I've been wearing this since I got my hands on the product in November. The mascara gives lashes 200% more volume and no clumps, guaranteeing your eyes pop on the red carpet or your next big event.

Overall, the show was a smash success. There were surprises (Hello! Mr. President), sweet moments (seeing Ben Affleck's doting wife beam as he accepted his award) and plenty of sass from the hostesses. The event was a great way to kick off the award season and I simply can't wait for the next red carpet event.

My one question? How do they all stay so poised? I've also been testing the Secret Clinical Strength Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant in Light and Fresh. If I were ever nominated for an award I would want the confidence this product provides thanks to the clinically proven and doctor-endorsed to provide prescription formula. It contains the maximum level of anti-perspirant active offered without a prescription as well as odor-fighting microcapsules, and skin soothing conditioners. All of these actresses looked so poised, I'd love to know how they stayed so calm.
