It'??s not easy being green (as Kermit the Frog says), but it sure is fun! We got green and crafty by recycling metal bottle caps to create one-of-a-kind accessories and magnets. Here are a few ideas for getting crafty with your kids:

One rainy day my 4.5 year old daughter and I gathered the bottle caps we had been collecting, got out the box of crafts filled with buttons, feathers, felt, eyes, beads, sequins and glue and went to work. With limitless possibilities, we just began gluing (use clear drying glue) the various crafts onto the caps and voila, we transformed ugly metal caps into fun stylish caps.

We used these new inventions to decorate (adhere with double-sided tape) birthday cards, to accessorize gifts, and to hang on our mirrors. We also created a cool magnet by adhering a 1/2 inch wide magnet to the back of the cap. If you have enough caps and really want to get crafty, you can make a checker set out of them.

The idea to use the bottle caps was seen in Family Fun magazine, but the creative uses are ours.
