Ski season just began for us. That means getting my kids on the slopes every Saturday for the next eight weeks. The girls are 7 & 5 and still need a lot of help getting ready. Mom to the rescue. But this season, I've got a secret weapon: Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture Lotion.
A few weeks ago, I took the Vaseline Intensive Care Rescue Winter Skin Challenge. My goal was to protect my skin in the cold as I get the kids geared up to ski. And since I don't want to miss out on the fun, I planned to suit up and ski too.
During the holiday break, I put the challenge to the test at Mohawk Ski Mountain in Northwest Connecticut. I started the morning soothing on Vaseline Intensive Rescue all over--especially focusing on my hands. This product has been reformulated to include Stratys-3, a multi-layer moisturizing complex that that deeply hydrates skin by infusing moisture at the top, core and deep down layers. The formula is non-greasy and relieves dry skin after just one use.
After a hearty breakfast of oatmeal, Mr.Momtrends and I loaded up the car with all the gear--four pairs or skis, poles, helmets, and all the mittens, neckwarmers, etc. necessary to keep us outdoors for most of the day.
Thankfully, it's been cold enough for Mohawk to make snow. The had opened four lifts and were ready for action. The day was windy, sunny and the air was quite dry. We parked and shuttled the girls to the Nutmeg Lift to do some runs on the bunny slope to warm up.
If you've ever had to dress kids for the snow, you know it's not quick and easy. Ski boots are especially challenging. My hands were exposed to the cold (about 25 degrees) for about 20 minutes as I clicked and binded the boots. Once outfitted, we warmed up and soon were exploring lots of different runs.
The day was a huge success. The lessons from last season seemed to have paid off and even the littlest skier in our group was skiing confidently. We lasted about 4 hours in the cold (with a nice break for chili and hot chocolate at the lodge).
When all the legs were weary, we headed back to the car and loaded up all the gear. Back at the house, I inspected my hands and they felt fantastic. Vaseline Intensive Rescue rescued my skin from a long day of exposure--soothing my skin from start to finish. On the package it says the lotion boosts moisture levels by 300% and I believe it. The lotion was like wearing an extra layer of protection in the cold--like an invisible moisture glove! For more information visit www.facebook.com/Vaseline
