American Girl magazine just celebrated 20 years in publishing.
We subscribe, and as a mom of young girls I find it a welcome piece of traditional media. It's a magazine I like to read with my 7 year old--the stories are positive, motivating and encouraging. While I can't completely fight the influence of racy images (hello NYC subway ads) and overtly sexy toys for kids that my girls see, I can help reinforce our family's values by sharing this magazine. This month the magazine is not only celebrating, they are hosting a contest.
The special Cover Contest is for girls 8-13. The winner will get a chance to appear on the cover of the 2013 Best of AG special issue. The contest centers on friendship, and to enter, two girls can submit the story of their unique friendship. One pair of friends will be selected to appear on the cover. Entries must be postmarked by 2/28/13.
