Fitting to make a note about Julie & Julia on my typical foodie day. Hubby and I escaped the Brooklyn heat last night and saw the flick. It is now in my top 10 all-time favorites. It combined four things I find essential in life: love, cooking, Paris and writing (blogging to be specific).
The movie combines the lives of blogger/author Julie Powell (I put her book Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerouslyon my "to read pile")
This week I posted about movies that make you happy. This one made me laugh, clap and hoot with glee. By the end of the picture, I forgot what Julia Child really looks like. Meryl Streep sunk so deep into the role it was flawless (I hear Oscar calling her). Amy Adams was her normal adorably perky self. And the support husbands were glorious. Ah, the joys of food shopping in Paris came to life. Thank you, thank you Nora Ephron (of Sleepless in Seattle fame) for this delightful film.
