Thin is always in when you're an actress. And while it's easy to dismiss the waiflike actresses we see on tv and movies, there's something meatier about Alison Sweeney. No it's not her figure. This mama has a sleek body. We're talking about her attitude. Alison talks to moms as a girlfriends and a role model in her new book The Mommy Diet. We caught up with Alison this week while the successful actress and mom was on her book tour in the Big Apple.
First scoop--she really did look fantastic and she is so nice you can forget you didn't go to college together. Second scoop--she really does eat and eat sensibly. While we chatted she started with an arugula salad and then nibbled on cured meats and a decadent, yet diminutive, bite of cheese. According to Alison, weight loss success and maintenance comes from being sensible NOT depriving yourself. "This is how I live my life. I enjoy food and control my portions. I balance it out with the rest of the meals in my day," says Alison
As we sipped our wine and chatted, Alison told me how inspiring it is to work on The Biggest Loser. She is constanty blown away by the dramas that folks have regarding food issues. Since Alison has a host of experts at her fingertips, she decided to turn her successes and insider's scoop into a book.
She wanted to write a book that appealed to moms--she knows first hand the pressures of finding time to stay fit after having kids. Her favorite workout involves the kids--taking her son hiking. Now that's a momtrend we love.
The Mommy Diet ($16.32) is a easy read. It talks about fitness, nutrition and finding balance in life. Nothing preachy here. It's not a diet book. Oh no, this book is packed with practical tips and helpful advice for any mom who needs to boost her image, liven up her workout routine or simply live a healthier life.
