Adrian Grenier and Gary Hirshberg at the launch party for Chelsea's Table
I really try to eat healthy and instill healthy eating habits to my children. Of course, life is all about balance so I try to focus on healthy food as well those inevitable treats that seem to follow kids. What gets me crazy is the lack of healthy food options when we go out to dinner. The typical kids menu usually means that I have to pick between grilled cheese, pasta with cheese or chicken fingers. Not my favorite options to feed my kids.
A new restaurant is aiming to change the way families eat by incorporating organic and local food to a natural fast food restaurant at Chelsea Piers called Chelseas Table, an organic and natural fast food restaurant located at Pier 92 in Chelsea Piers.
Dubbed as a "natural restaurant," Chelsea's Table is the vision of Gary Hirshberg (co-founder of Stonyfield Farm) as a way to create healthy fast food that is economical and nutritious. At a recent launch party for the opening, Gary spoke about the organic food revolution and how "healthy,' 'delicious' and 'fast' are not mutually exclusive." Gary also noted that "Chelsea's Table is about more than food and commerce. It is a movement that aims to change how we think about food, support family farms, feed our families and accommodate today's time-challenged lifestyles."
Breakfast through late night snack, Executive Chef David David Siegal's menu, emphasizing locally-sourced ingredients, will please any palate. The menu features a delicious selection of hand-tossed salads with organic greens from Long Island farms, hand-crafted sandwiches served on freshly baked organic flatbread, and organic yogurt smoothies. Additionally, the cafe features the exciting Stonyfield Organic Dairy Bar where guests can walk-up (or bike/skate up) and order a ready-to-make smoothie with organic Greek, Stonyfield yogurt, or milk.
NYC families can now enjoy more healthy options - making it easier to enjoy local, seasonal and organic food.
