Food Trends for Families

While we love covering the latest fashion trends for moms, we are also intrigued by the newest trends for food. Here are some of our current favorites that the whole family will love.

1.Fun Baking Options: I love cooking with my daughters so I was really excited to test out Zemas Madhouse Foodsand theirunique line of delicious, ancient wholegrain and gluten-free baking mixes. A personal favorite from the line is the Gluten-Free Multigrain Pancake & Waffle Mix, a blend that is made with unrefined sugars, protein rich teff, quinoa, chia, hemp and flaxmeal. As with all of their products, this mix is free of the top 8 allergens, as well as sulfites, additives, trans fats, preservatives and refined sugar. This makes it a healthy option for those looking to enjoy comfort foods while still focusing on health and wellness.

2.Quick Dinners: I've been traveling a lot of Momtrends (check out recap on Mexico) and when I am away I try to have the healthiest options available for my girls. One item they have been enjoying is the delicious LYFE Kitchenmeal options with some favorites being the Oat Bran & Ricotta Pancakes with cinnamon, apples & maple glaze, the Chicken Chile Verde with polenta & black beans and the Whole Grain Penne Pasta. The beauty of this line is that it doesn't include any artificial ingredients and trans fat. Its packaging is also environmentally friendly and lots of herbs and spices - making the meals rich in flavor and not salt or calories.

Another favorite that we love is KidFresh and their healthy collection of meals for kids that include a veggie hidden in every meal. Some of our personal favorites are the tasty Rainbow Rice + Chicken and Totally Twisted Pasta + Meatballs that come in their vivid green packaging that will instantly get kids excited for the delicious food that awaits them instead.

3.Nourishing DrinksMy girls drink a lot of water, but every once in a while they want something a little sweeter, so I was pretty shocked when we tried out 2B Drinks and found a way to meet in the middle. Designed as a "pure and simple" drink, 2B is infused with Aloe with no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners and a maximum of 10 calories per 8 oz serving. What makes it sweet is sweetened with Purefruit, a monk fruit natural sweetener, resulting in tasty varieties like grape, lemonade, fruit punch, coconut and more.

We also really love Spartosand their all-natural protein water. This includes a line with refreshing flavors like Blueberry + pomegranate, Orange + Pineapple, and Blueberry + Yuzo that all provides protein and A, B, C and D vitamins - giving you and your kids a healthful elixir, invigorating energy-booster, hydration, and essential nutrients for natural energy.

4. Fun Snacks: As for snacks, we love Funley’s Super Crackers are the ultimate in fun crackers that each feature a “hidden superfood” like carrots or sweet potatoes. This includes unique flavors (with fun names) like Cheddar 'n' Stuff, Pizza 'n' Stuff, Cornbread 'n' Stuff and more more.

Another sweet treat that we love is the allergen-friendly sweets from Lucy’sPerfect for those who are gluten-free as well as those who have nut allergies, Lucy's offers a collection of treats like Chocolate Chip Cookies, Ginger Snap, Brownie Cookies and much more that are all made without milk, eggs, peanuts or tree nuts.

We also love the hearty granola from Jessica’s Natural Foods. This includes a line of handcrafted, gluten-free granola that was created after founder and president Jessica Mindell's husband learned he had a gluten intolerance. We loved this as a snack as well as one yogurts and as a morning cereal. Some of our favorites, which are also non-GMO, include the Almond Cherry, Motor CIty Crunch, Pecan Almond, and Vanilla Maple that are packed with chunky oats that are rich in flavor.
