Cut Down on Food Waste on National Clean Out Your Fridge Day #SAVEITSUNDAY

Save it Sunday with Glad

While we love the holidays, they also are known for a collecting a lot of waste. Excessive food has become the norm, and with Thanksgiving a few weeks away we learned that this means 25% of the food and drinks that we buy will go to waste. That’s more than $1500 wasted a year on uneaten groceries.

With today being National Clean Out Your Fridge Day (Nov. 15) we have teamed with GLAD to share the word about #SAVEITSUNDAY, a pledge encouraging consumers to love food more and waste it less by protecting the food they buy the day they buy it.

Chef Alex Guarnaschelli (Food Network’s “Chopped”) is also helping out with this campaign by sharing her food protection videos to help you maker smarter choices.

Samsung also has some tips for getting your fridge – and your kitchen – holiday-ready.

1. Get to Clearing: Toss out items past their expiration and commit to using nearly empty items like dressings, sauces and marinades to make way for new. Check out Samsung’s LCD refrigerator with apps with Grocery Manager app - It’s a great tool for organizing and managing your groceries.

2. Spread the Holiday Sparkle: No longer is precious refrigerator space monopolized by bulky beverage bottles with the Samsung Four-Door Refrigerator with Automatic Sparkling Water Dispenser. Now, crisp filtered sparkling water is delivered right from the appliance with the simple touch of a button.

Visit to take the pledge and be entered into a sweepstakes to win a personal chef to cook a full meal this holiday season.
