Black Velvet Cocktail

If you love the smooth velvety taste of Guinness, yet at the same time, appreciate the light airy bubbles that accompany champagne, the Black Velvet cocktail is for you. Not only does it require just two ingredients, which is always my jam, but it evokes an old school kind of glamour that's perfect for dinner parties.

I don't know about you, but having the kids home all summer has me pining for some adults only events. Not that I don't cherish every single moment of summer magic with my babies, but I also appreciate the occasional evening filled with grown up conversation and, most importantly, grown up beverages. Haha! I mean I would like to throw on a nice dress and give my shorts a break for once. You know what I'm sayin'?

Nothing begs for a pretty outfit like champers and as you probably remember from my roundup up of bubbly drinks, sparkling wine is a favorite of mine...Well, so is beer for that matter. So, when I can combine the two I'm a very happy girl. And that's all you need for the Black Velvet cocktail...stout and sparkling wine!


4 oz. Guiness or stout
4 oz. sparkling wine (I used Prosecco)

There are two ways you can go with this. If you aren't looking for a super layered appearance you can simply pour equal parts of the stout and sparkling wine like I did. If you really want to get fancy with it you can pour your bubbly over the back of a spoon which will give your Black Velvet cocktail a more layered look than mine. Cheers!
