barkTHINS Snacking Chocolate: A Sweet, Salty, and More Satisfying On-the-Go Treat

Clichéd as it may be, I have a serious (like, seriously serious) weakness for chocolate. Milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate—(ooooh, especially dark chocolate)—you name it, I want it.

Nevertheless, I feel guilty eating chocolate as a “mid-day snack.” It feels so decadent, so naughty, so desserty. I try to fight the afternoon craving, but sometimes my sweet tooth defeats my willpower, and just like that I find myself devouring a brownie or a candy bar. Five minutes later, I’m still starving. What’s a (chocoholic) girl to do?

Enter my latest snacking obsession: barkTHINS. These breakable slivers of dark chocolate are chock-full of on-trend ingredients—like nuts, seeds, fruits, and pretzels. With a hint of sea salt they make a heartier, more fulfilling treat that satiates my hunger and satisfies my need for something sweet.

Better yet, they are non-GMO Project Verified and Fair Trade Ingredient Certified. Plus, they contain no artificial colors or flavors. (I’m not so sure I can say that about those aforementioned candy bars I’ve been known to scarf down in the past.)

Since discovering these bite-sized delights, I’ve been keeping a re-sealable bag of barkTHINS in my tote—that way I have them on hand when hunger strikes (or a hankering for chocolate hits hard!). As a busy working mom, I’m always out and about and on the move, and barkThins keep me going between meetings, events, school pick-up, school drop-off, and endless errands. (FYI, my favorites: Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut with Almonds… Yum!)

My son likes them too. And I’d much rather give the little guy these quality treats over any other sugary, junky snack. He’s happy, I feel good about the ingredients, and Mama gets her chocolate too. It’s a win-win-win.
