Having a new baby and walking around (or strolling) a toddler can be challenging (to say the least). Since my new daughter is too little for a double stroller I have been getting around town using Britax'??s new baby carrier.
At a recent Britax event, hosted by Karen Connell and Melissa Chapman of the Buzzing Bloggers, I had the opportunity to learn more about the soon-to-be released Britax Baby Carrier. Having tried both the Baby Bjorn and Ergo in the past, I knew I was looking for a carrier that wouldn'??t strain my back, hips or shoulders as well as one that was both safe and comfortable for both me and my baby.
After a few days of resting I was ready to embark on a walk in my neighborhood. I attached my Britax '?? simply by looping it over my head and tightening the adjustable belt around my waist (it accommodates waists 22 inches to 56 inches) '?? making it the perfect fit for any parent. I then placed my baby (facing me) inside the carrier and tightened two loops on the side for a secure and safe hold. The one-handed buckles and snaps made it really easy to get my baby in the carrier '?? as she was securely placed facing me. I was immediately struck by soft-structured and padded baby carrier (it is made from 100% cotton) that features padded leg openings and an adjustable head support for head and neck stability for younger infants and leg loops that created a snug fit my newborn.
Walking around I also noticed how the carrier was really comfy (and soft). I loved how the carrier felt when I was wearing the baby. It didn'??t feel like the carrier was pulling or tugging on my back, hips and shoulders. Rather, the carrier and its padded waist and arm straps helped to evenly distribute my baby'??s weight (the carrier can accommodate 8 pounds to 32 pounds).
Throughout our journey, she was so secure that she slept the whole time. I quickly removed the multifaceted carrier '?? that was as easy to remove as it was to put on with our first successful and pain-free mini-adventure.
Able to hold babies inward or outward the carrier is available in black and navy ($129.99 on Amazon) and a tan organic model ($139.99), the carrier will be in stores and online in early Summer 2011. Additionally, Britax sells a separate Seat Extender Insert ($24.99-$26.99), which supports a wide, spread squatting position for your child and enhanced longer-wearing comfort for you through balanced weight distribution. The Removable Infant Insert, designed for babies eight to 14 pounds that will create a comfortable seated position, is included with the baby carrier.
Key Features of the Britax Carrier:
- Accommodates babies weight from 8 to 32 pounds.
- Designed to reduce the risk of back and shoulder strain during extended wear by distributing weight across the shoulders, back and hips with its padded waist belt and shoulder straps.
- Allows your baby to face inward towards you or outward (depending on neck strength).
