Today, there is sadness in the running community due to the bombing at the Boston Marathon. But if there is one thing I know runners, will continue to hit the pavement and celebrate the joys of fitness. While my heart goes out to those who couldn't finish the marathon, today I want to celebrate all the great things about running.
Running gear is always on my Mother's Day wish list. A few weeks ago I got to attend the Asics preview and take a look at the new trends in running gear.
It's a low-cost sport that is transformative. For me running, is therapy. It's my chance to power off. So treating myself to nifty running gear doesn't feel too decadent. First, this year Asics is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kayano with some special color ways.
What I really want to try is the Nimbus 15. It's got more gel than ever before for maximum cushioning. Yep, I like a nice plush ride. The "fluidfit" upper and fluidride midesole sound dreamy to me ($145; available at specialty retail 6/1). If price is an issue, the Gel Flash comes in at $75, but doesn't offer as much cushioning.
When it comes to fashion, Asics had some of the hottest gear I've seen. My favorite part of the line was the "Lite Show" collection--a flashy group of prints with "retro-reflective" flatlock seams for safe running. And for the serious hard-core runner, the PR Shelter Electro Jacket with an LED spiral light is pretty awesome. You are literally a beacon of light with this on.
Momtrends was not paid for this post. I did get a goody bag full of clothes to spruce up my running wardrobe.
