Hey there! Or should I say, HOWDY! This is Carrie from Carrie Elle, and I'm going to share with you a little slice of my world - the best things to do with kids in the Dallas, Texas area.

Best FREE Thing to do with Kids in Dallas

There's so much stuff to do in Dallas, it's hard to know where to start. But if you're looking for a unique experience the kid are going to love, you can't go wrong with a trolley ride to Klyde Warren Park (which has a splash area, food trucks. play structures, games and more). Best part? It's free! You can read all about riding the M-Line Trolley to Klyde Warren Park here.

Best Place to Get Ice Cream

We love getting gelato at Paciugo in the West Village in Uptown. Bonus - this is right next to where you'll catch the trolley!

Best Place to Eat Out with Kids

The Lot is a perfect place to take the family for dinner. With patio seating overlooking a play area, the kids can run and play while you enjoy a cool drink and wait for your food. It's located near White Rock Lake, making it the perfect lunch or dinner destination after a day at the Dallas Arboretum (which is right down the road). You'll love the food at The Lot, and the kids will love the chance to run around (and you'll love the chance for your kids to run around, too).

Favorite Museum

There are so many great museums for kids in the Dallas area, it's hard to pick one. But our most-visited museum is definitely The Perot Museum of Nature and Science. You can read all about planning your visit to The Perot Museum here.

Another museum worth checking out is the Frontiers of Flight Museum by Love Field. Little and big airplane and spaceship lovers alike will marvel at the aircraft inside this museum - and it's inexpensive and usually not crowded, either!

Get Out and Play with a Smarter Set of Wheels

Our family has been through many wheels over the years. Since we are mostly an urban family, our kids found scootering the best way to get to school. My kids got bigger, so I’ve been researching options for them. Now it's time for an upgrade to our wheels and we've got some more

The Best Diaper Pails and Accessories

I do believe diapering is the one activity we do the most of when our kiddos are young. For more months than I care to remember, I changed diaper after diaper after diaper. An all inclusive list of the best diaper pails and diaper accessories would have been so very helpful. more

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are all about sharing tips to keep our busy moms healthy and at the top of their game. I think it's safe to say, we are all aware of Breast Cancer, but when it comes to breast-cancer prevention, we are sharing tips to help you feel more

When my kids were younger, I spent lots of time (and money) at The Nappy Shoppe in Plano. Stocked with cloth diapers, baby carriers, natural toys and more, The Nappy Shoppe is a great place to shop for babies and small kids - and they also have tons of parenting classes (some examples: classes on cloth diapers, baby wearing, and essential oils).

Best Place to Take Family Pictures

I can't think of a prettier spot to take family photos than the Dallas Arboretum. They have something spectacular going on every season and the grounds are stunning. You especially don't want to miss Autumn at the Arboretum - you can get an idea here of how magical it looks when they bring in tens of thousands of pumpkins! This is one of my favorite spots in Dallas, period.

Be sure to check out the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden while you are there.

Best Neighborhood in Dallas to Hang Out

Texas has lots of little towns with bustling downtown areas, but one of my favorites is downtown Grapevine at Christmas time. Known as the Christmas Capital of Texas, downtown Grapevine turns into a magical winter wonderland at Christmas time. You can ride the North Pole Express, visit the Gaylord Texan ICE exhibit, and enjoy one of more than 1400 Christmas activities over a 40-day period.

Favorite Go-To Spot that You Won't Find in a Tourist Book

This is definitely a little off the beaten patch (and about an hour outside of Dallas), but your kids will LOVE the East Texas Gators alligator farm!

And along the same lines, In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center lets visitors get up close and personal with big cats.
