We recently discovered a great company called Pillow Pals that brings your child's drawings to life by turning them into custom plush toys for them to love.
I knew right away that my 6 year old daughter would love to have her very own custom stuffed toy created from one of her drawings. I also knew that like any sibling rivalry, my son would want one too. But, as we all know though, 1 year olds don't draw the best pictures. I may get some random squiggles on a page before he's done and that's okay. But I want him to have a special Pillow Pal just like his sister. Then, I came up with a great idea for a Christmas gift. I would let my daughter draw him a character she thought he would like, and her drawing would become his Pillow Pal, an extra special gift from big sister to little brother! I think she was more excited about making his custom Pillow Pal than her own. Win!
She sat down with some crayons and paper and got to work. She drew a couple of cute characters and then decided which one she liked the best for her and her brother. She settled on an orange puppy with black hearts and duck feet for him, and a mermaid with pink and blue hair and one random yellow fin for her. (I think she was testing Pillow Pals to see if they would make it exactly like she drew it. *Spoiler: they did!)
It was so easy! We uploaded our drawings and then sat back and waited. The Pillow Pals wait time is approximately 5-8 weeks, so plan accordingly. I got a preview email with photos and notification when our package shipped. When it arrived, the box was even wrapped in Christmas paper! I debated putting it right under the tree and making them wait, but we couldn't stand the anticipation and decided to open them right away.
We were blown away by how awesome their Pillow Pals were!
Both the puppy and the mermaid looked just like her drawings. And they were big and bright and cuddly! Both kids fell in love!
Skip the Crowds and Take Your Family Skiing in Waterville Valley

My daughter immediately loved her mermaid which she promptly named Calista. But, the best part was giving her little brother his Pillow Pal that she created with love just for him. I mean look his face! It doesn't get more special than that!
My son of course loved his Pillow Pal too! He took to him right away and immediately pretended to take a nap on his belly.
Our Pillow Pals have such great details, just like my daughter's drawings. They have soft bodies with stitching details on their faces, (and a little on the mermaid's body). You can tell that a lot of care and work went into creating everything just right. Some of the fabric, like on the puppy's body and mermaid's multicolored hair, look like they were created just for these plushies! I like the fact that the hearts on the puppy are actually part of the fabric and not stitched or embroidered on. That makes him so soft.
I was happily surprised at how big they were too! I was expecting something smaller and I love that they are extra big and cuddly.
You can draw, paint or sculpt your ideas for your own custom Pillow Pals. It's as easy as sending a photo in an email. The result becomes a cherished playtime friend straight from your child's imagination!
