Today we have a special guest post from Amanda at Kids and Cabernet. She lives with her husband and two adorable kids in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She's joining us for our Welcome to My World series to share the best family friendly things to do in Ft. Lauderdale.
Best place to take family pictures?:
One of my favorite places to take family pictures is in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale, also known as Las Olas. I love the scenery—you have everything from lush trees, a rail road, the inter-costal, and beautiful backstreets with tons of charm!
Best place for local food?
That would have to be Rustic Inn. They have the BEST crabs you've ever eaten. They are tossed in a butter and roasted garlic sauce that will knock your socks off, no joke! While the crabs that are served aren't local (the guys from The Deadliest Catch get them) Rustic Inn has been around for over 50 years, and is a pretty famous local spot. If you're ever down this way, you must stop by: dress casual and be prepared to get a little messy! I promise you, it's well worth it.
Best FREE thing to do with the kids?
The beach, of course! We live about 20 minutes away from the beach, so it's pretty easy to pack up our things and head on over. We set up a beach tent for breaks from the sun, pack our lunches, and hang out for the day. The kids LOVE it and we love watching them have a great time. Plus, it makes them sleep really good at night—a definite win-win folks!
Best place to eat with kids?
We like to go to The Shops at Pembroke Gardens. It's an outdoor mall, with plenty of options to eat they have almost any restaurant you can think of. Then for dessert, we go to one of the ice cream shops there or Misha's Cupcakes that serves the most delicious cupcakes you will ever eat, and if we're feeling really nice we go to the candy store that's there too! It's a fun place to walk around with the kids and pop in and out of all of the shops.
