The Doldrums Virtual Book Chat #TSMBookClub

We are so very excited to kick off our first monthly Virtual Book Club. If you've been reading for very long you know that we are pretty much obsessed with finding and sharing our favorite books for kids. With that in mind, we are excited to host monthly conversations on twitter where we'll chat with our favorite children's authors.

We're starting strong with author Nicholas Gannon whose first book, The Doldrums, is a fantastic middle grade novel featuring a trio of adventurous friends. The beautiful book is a fully-illustrated story about friendship, imagination and the quest for adventure.

About The Doldrums

Archer B. Helmsley longs for adventure. Grand adventures with parachutes. and exotic sunsets and interesting characters. But how can he have an adventure when he can't leave his house?

It helps that he has friends like Adélaïde L. Belmont, who must have had many adventures since she ended up with a wooden leg. (Perhaps a crocodile ate it. Perhaps not.) And Oliver Glub. Oliver will worry about all the details (so that Archer doesn't have to.)

And so Archer, Adélaïde and Oliver make a plan. A plan to get out of the house, out of their town entirely.

Because it's relevant when picking books for our kids, it's worth noting the book is intended for 8 to 12 year old or 3 to 7 grade level readers.

Join us and author Nicholas Gannon on Monday evening for a discussion of the book The Doldrums and why we think your kids will love it.
