While there are so many amazing things that come with being a blogger, I think one of the best perks of sharing your ideas online is that you have this virtual documentation everything you've shared in the past. It's your own personal library that can be used to reflect on whenever you feel like taking a trip down memory lane. And what better time to look back on "posts of the past" than when we begin a new year. While time doesn't stand still, we are given that one day, January 1st, to essentially start anew.
So, to kick of 2015, I went back and looked through my style archives so I could pick just a few of my favorites to share again.
This winter, I loved the classics that keep me constantly looking forward to chilly weather. Boots, sweaters, quilted jackets, and layers upon layers. I love researching a new piece for my winter wardrobe that I can invest in and enjoy for seasons to come. Building up my winter staples has been much more of a marathon as opposed to a full on sprint. Each year, I settle on a few big buys and then wait patiently for the coming year. The beauty of classics and investments is that you can use them as long as you take care of them.
I think it goes without saying, but this was the year of the "skirt" for me. I was constantly looking for ways to wear them all year long no matter what the weather or occasion. In the spring time, I loved wearing florals and sweaters to help transition in-between seasons. Oh - and that denim jacket will always be a staple of mine.
Summer! Brights, whites, and a good old fashion pair of denim shorts. Just looking back at these pictures, I can't wait to get my hands on that pretty white eyelet dress again. I can think of so many ways to dress her up or down - the possibilities with white and summer sunshine are just endless. Colorblocking also became a go-to look and pairing that pretty purple dress with bright pink pumps will always stand out for me. Denim shorts? While they might get a little bit longer in length as the years go by, I still call on them over and over again from May to September.
Fall always brings some high anticipation of wearing my beloved boots that were stored for so long and I quickly jump on the chance to wear them...even with tweed when the temperature gets just cold enough. Because florals were having such a moment in 2014, I was happy to carry them in darker shades into the fall, especially with that cranberry tote that I seriously wanted to carry with just about everything. Finally, while I love the "real thing", vegan leather has come so far that it's really impossible to tell the difference...until you see how much money you've saved!
Thank you so much for following along with me in 2014!
Which one is your favorite? What season do you love to dress for, and why?
Happy New Year!
