Blood Orange Margarita

Image placeholder title

Blood oranges are one of my favorite citrus fruits. I feel in love with them during a vacation to Sardinia a few years ago. We had fresh blood orange juice every morning for breakfast. Luckily for me they are currently in season. They have such a pretty bright crimson color inside and hints of sweet berry flavor alongside the traditional citrus orange flavor. Blood orange season is December through May. Since we're right at the beginning of blood orange season why not indulge with our Blood Orange Margarita.

If you've never had them before head to the store and pick up a couple of blood oranges to make this yummy winter margarita.

To create this blood orange margarita you'll need to get at least 2 medium blood oranges (more if you want garnish) and one lime.

Juice your 2 blood oranges and half of the lime. I used a handheld juicer to squeeze my fruit. Use the other lime half to garnish your drink.

Mix the blood orange juice and lime juice with 1.5 shots of tequila and 2 shots of margarita mix. Shake with ice and pour into a salt rimed glass.
