Being a stay at home/work at home mom, most of my days are spent playing trains with my kiddo on the floor or running after him on the playground. On top of helping my 2nd grader with homework and driving her to all her activities. I get up early and work, spend my day as a mom, and stay up late and work. I'll be honest, I spend a lot of time (more than I would like to admit) in my comfy yoga pants.
With my friend's birthday coming up it was a good excuse to get "dressed" for the day and have a Mom's Day Off. A day to myself to refresh my mind and treat myself to a little break.
There wasn't really anything fancy or special about my outfit that day, but I felt pretty and needed pictures to document the fact that I do in fact wear something other than "comfy pants" these days. I kept it pretty simple with cuffed jean capris and a lightweight flowy top in my favorite color (purple). I was pretty excited about two things. 1. the fact that I got to carry my small purse for the afternoon and 2. I wore my new wedges from Crocs.
This wedges made me feel pulled together without my feet feeling pinched and without feeling overly dressed up. The perfect casual Spring style. Wedges are my favorite trend for warm weather and these are the most comfortable sandals I own!
These Leigh II Graphic Wedges gave me the lift that I wanted but still kept my feet comfortable. I love the foam footbed, it gave a little squishy spring to my step. Defiantly the far cry from the traditional clogs I associate with Crocs; these are trendy and feminine.
The first stop on my Mom's Day Off was to fuel up at the frozen yogurt shop. Nothing says Spring like a sweet and creamy frozen yogurt treat. I topped mine with fruit because you know swimsuit season isn't that far off and berries are always a yummy choice.
Next, I headed away from the suburbs and into the heart of town to hit up some shopping. A quick trip to the bookstore to browse the aisles of new reads that are calling my name. I inhaled the sweet smell of the books and perused all the adult sections. I didn't even set foot in the kid corner. I actually bought myself a new book too! Probably wishful thinking, but reading more was one of my goals this year and maybe now that I have a good book on my nightstand I'll be more enticed to head to bed earlier to read it.
The weather was perfect for strolling the streets in the sunshine and stopping to explore those boutiques that I always pass but never stop at.

I strolled and shopped and enjoyed the Spring flowers on the trees and on the ground. It was so nice to have a whole afternoon to myself. I'm always kind of in awe when the desert is in bloom so of course I found myself photographing the flowering trees that were everywhere. The desert really comes alive in the Spring and I'm so glad I have the chance to experience it even though I do miss grass.
After a while I met up with some of my friends for dinner to celebrate a birthday in our group. A little adult time with my fellow ladies was a nice way to finish my Mom's Day Out.
It was great to have some quiet time to myself where I could hear my own thoughts and just be. No little person to keep up. No sticky hands to wipe. I love being a mom but I also realize it's important to take a little time for myself to recenter and recharge. A Mom's Day Out doesn't have to be fancy or expensive as long as it's something you enjoy. For me frozen yogurt, time to clear my head and shopping for new books was perfect.
