Mom Style: Plums & Purples for Fall

Ever since the weather turned cooler I've been reaching for comfort - comfort food, comfortable clothes, comfortable shoes. That means black leggings on repeat. And while you definitely can't go wrong with classic basic black, this year I am excited to throw one of fall's hottest hues into the mix. Plums and purples are all over the place, and are easy to add into every day looks.

J.Jill fall pieces are the perfect building blocks for fall and winter weather: easy to wear, comfortable and chic. Throw on a new Petunia Pickle Bottom Downtown Tote Mini in the season's hottest color and you're good to go!

It doesn't get any more comfortable than a black tunic (no longer available in black, try this one) and ankkle-length leggings. With these simple basics you can really go any direction - dress up with a statement necklace and chic shoes or keep it casual with cozy boots. Or, throw a little bit of everything on top for a look that took me from lunch with friends to volunteering in my daughter's classroom and everywhere in between during a typical busy day. Of course, the black backdrop makes it easy to add pops of color and fun.

The lightweight sweater hoodie in Grape is a super easy way to embrace the color trend without stepping too far outside my comfort zone. (Did I mention comfort yet?) It's soft and super casual with a front pocket, and curved hemline. I do wish I'd gone up a size in this sweater for a little more coverage as I prefer how it fits the model. (I can't believe I just typed that as if that's groundbreaking or worth saying. #DUH!)

Now. Let's talk about the bag. THE BAG! Earlier this year we shared the Downtown Tote from Petunia Pickle Bottom. This fall, they launched the Downtown Tote Mini - a scaled-down version that is perfect for day to night. You can carry this bag to dinner and beyond without feeling like you're carrying a, gasp, diaper bag. the gorgeous, exclusive plum Tuscan Twilight fabric is so on-trend that you look effortlessly chic.

Of course, it has the functionality that we know and love from Petunia, including 4 interior pockets, a zippered pocket inside and another on the outside. The Downtown Tote Mini is $119 and available in a variety of fabrics, including some lush embossed prints.

We were provided samples. As always, all opinions are our own.
