I am constantly taking photos of my kids, but nothing beats paying a professional to capture our entire family. I treasure the moments we capture and, of course, use the images to fill our home and remind of us adventures around the world. Our last family photos were in Germany so I was anxious to get photos here in Japan. As soon as the photographer was booked, though, it was time to focus on what in the world we would wear. I'm not going to lie: I find this part stressful, particularly because I have to shop, compare and order most of our clothes online. And there's no telling if the clothes will match or clash when we get them all together.
This year I went a little out of my comfort zone with tons of color, but I really like how the outfits look together. Our photographer, Lee Anne Jarrett Photography, was amazing; I'm so glad our world's collided here in Japan. I had a hard time picking favorites to share, so prepare yourself for image overload.
For this set of photos, I literally planned our entire family of outfits around my daughter's Matilda Jane outfit. We've shared Matilda Jane Clothing before, and once you see it in person you'll know why I've grown to love it so.
The most recent collection called Friends Forever is "filled with vibrant patterns, beautiful colors, and fun details, it's perfect for all your little one's fall adventures." My daughter is wearing the Devon Coat, Hartley Peasant Top and Nellie Leggings. It was so chilly the day we had our photos taken so I was really happy she had a warm (and totally darling) jacket to wear. One of the things I love about shopping the collections at Matilda Jane is mix and match is made simple. She can wear the Leggings with the Dulce Top or Saffron Top for a totally different look.
She's wearing a size 8 in everything, which is a tad big now. But she's growing so quickly and I didn't want to risk her only being able to wear the size 6 for a few short months.
Matilda Jane also has a women's collection where I found a sweater that I knew would coordinate with my daughter's outfit. The Dixie Sweater has the same purple as the girl's Nellie Leggings and is right on trends with all the purples and plums we're loving this fall. So, basically, yes, I dressed the girls first and then lucked out by finding things on base for the boys. We shopped my husband's closet for his outfit.
