Mornings can be hectic in our household. As a busy mom of two, I try to make sure I sit down with the kids for a few minutes while they eat their breakfast every morning. I sip my coffee while the kids munch away on their favorite cereals. We talk about the upcoming day, their thoughts, and what they have going on. I've been trying to come up with some cute and easy ways to make breakfast even more fun, and, thanks to General Mills and The Secret Life of Pets, now it is!
I really like carving out a few extra minutes in our busy day to connect with the kids. I'm mindful of making that a priority and I try to start the morning off with some positive reinforcements and humor. First, I feed the kids, then they feed our cats—and throughout this morning routine, there's lots of chatting. With a little help from General Mills cereal and The Secret Life of Pets, our mornings have been even more enjoyable, and we've had lots to talk about—like what we think our pets are doing while we're away from home!
We have to cats, Sparkles and Nox, so my kids really appreciated The Secret Life of Pets movie, an immensely entertaining comedy about the unexpected lives our pets might live while we're away at school and work. As a family of animal lovers, we were all immediately in love with the delightfully flawed characters in The Secret Life of Pets from the first time we saw even just the trailer!
Of course, my children are opposites, so each one of them has their favorite cereals. We were excited to see that in partnership with The Secret Life of Pets, specially marked boxes of General Mills Big G Cereals (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cheerios Multi Grain, Lucky Charms, Trix and Cocoa Puffs) will feature free character collectibles. (You can collect all six.) Now my kids can have their favorite cereals and collect these adorable pet figurines.
Almost every time I go to the store I'm buying a new box of cereal. My kids had a mission to collect all the characters from Secret Life of Pets. Each time we opened a new box of Big G cereals the kids were excited to see which new Pets character we got, whether it was Max, the pampered terrier mix, Duke, the massive mutt, Snowball, the leader of the flushed pets, Buddy, the sarcastic dachshund, Gidget, the naïve, but gutsy Pomeranian, or Chloe, the fat cat.
On shelves at retailers nationwide now through July, while supplies last, General Mills Big G Cereals is offering you an opportunity to feature all of the limited edition Pets collectibles and create a custom DIY pet house!
After decorating our DIY mini dog house, my kids created lots of silly scenarios with the pets. They loved creating the mischief they think the pets might be getting into when we're not home. Mostly, this involves getting into the cereal boxes to eat out all the lucky charms marshmallows—and chewing on random doll shoes, of course. I love the one of Snowball, the rabbit, wearing tiny sunglasses.
My daughter is now at the age where she likes to have things hanging on her book bag to personalize it. The Secret Life of Pets collectibles are perfect for book bags, lunch boxes, or anywhere you want to display them.
If you haven't already seen The Secret Life of Pets, be sure to head to the theaters to check out this dynamic movie. With a comedic all-star cast, it's an entertaining flick for the whole family. I thought it had a relatable premise, and I loved how the characters were all sweet, yet rebellious. Overall, it was a very original film with some exciting and unexpected twists.
