How to Pack the Perfect Picnic
All of this gorgeous sunshine and blue skies have us getting outside as much as we can. It's the perfect time for a picnic, and with summer quickly approaching, I know I'll be heading to the park for lazy days outdoors as much as I can.
Whether you plan a picnic in the park for the whole family or make it a romantic day date for two we are sharing how to pack the perfect picnic!
First, let's talk about our new bag that we love for picnics. Packing a picnic is so easy with the PackIt picnic bag. This soft tote is perfect for a picnic in the park. Pop it in the freezer overnight and it keeps things cool all day! Plus, this buffalo plaid print just screams "let's go on a picnic," don't you think?
The PackIt picnic bag has built-in freezable gel walls. Once frozen it can keep things cool for up to 10 hours. It folds up onto itself and can be tucked into the freezer until you're ready to use it. Once unfolded, we were able to fit food for four: sandwiches, fruit, dessert, a bottle of rosé, small cutting board, cups, and a wine bottle opener in our bag.
So what is our perfect picnic menu you might ask?
Sandwiches of course! A sandwich is the perfect picnic food because you can just grab it and go. No fussing with plates or utensils and trying to balance everything precariously on your lap.
We made "fancy" pesto caprese sandwiches using a french baguette. Cut the baguette lengthwise and smear both sides with pesto. Layer in thin slices of mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. Wrap it in parchment paper and tie it with some pretty twine for a special touch. We felt very European with our twine wrapped caprese sandwiches and a bottle of rosé.
We also packed fresh strawberries and a small containers of brownie bites for dessert. We all enjoyed lunch together and then the kids ran off to play. My husband and I sat back and munched on our strawberries, sipped our rosé and soaked it all in.
