Let the Sunshine In! Decorate for Spring with Pops of Yellow

The first official day of Spring was March 20th. After this long winter we couldn't be more ready for the change of seasons. The days are getting warmer, the sky is blue, the birds are singing and the flowers are starting to bloom. While everything outside is starting to pop with color, we decided to bring some of that color into our house.

I chose to add some bright splashes of yellow into our decor. The psychology of color says that yellow is uplifting and energizing, a perfect color for Spring decorating. It's like decorating with sunshine!

My living room has been gray and teal for a while and these refreshing yellow pieces was just what it needed to bring it back to life.

The yellow chevron pillow from HomeGoods was just what I was looking for. I love the modern pattern and added extra flair of the little pom pom tassels along the edges for fun.

The yellow bird pillow is a find from the outdoor section in Target if you can believe it. I already owned the teal pillow.

I adore this bicycle coffee mug as well. The cheerful yellow interior and basket of flowers on the front are just what I like having my morning coffee in lately. It's really starting to feel like Spring around here when I start my day off with this pretty mug every morning.

It reminds me of the bike riders in Paris with their baguettes and fresh flowers riding home from work.

I've had my ottoman for a while but since I have a toddler I've been too scared to put a decorative tray on it. But, when I found this pretty chevron mirrored tray, it coordinated well with my yellow chevron pattern in the pillow and colors in my living room so I went with it. I'm glad I did because every time I see it, I smile. And against all odds my toddler hasn't even messed with it!
