New York Fashion week is going strong. It may be cold and miserable here, but style goes on. I've been heading to a ton of events around the city and that means I've got look good even in the cold.

Constantly freshening up the wardrobe can be expensive and time consuming. To give my look a boost this month, I teamed up with TJMaxx and Marshalls to do a little shopping for the #WhatIWoreNYFW project.

Armed with a gift card and a few things in mind, I headed to the multi-level location on 6th Ave (b/w 18th & 19th) that has both a TJMaxx & Marshalls. My first mission was a bag. The theory is even if you are layered with a coat and scarf, your bag can make you look fabulous.

Tucked away on a back aisle was this uber-fabulous Vince Camuto bag. Score for $69! It had been marked down 3x--now it has a new happy home in my closet. Click here to see the bags TJMaxx has online.

Next I wanted to find a great pair of leggings to wear with boots. It's been too cold for heels, so tucking sleek leggings into boots is the perfect cold-weather fashion solution to the problem of what to wear. The ones shown are Lauren by Ralph Lauren and were $60.

These were the two things I wanted, now it was time to play. I looked at tops and found some great Tory Burch stuff, but this swingy Max Studio top caught my eye. I loved the idea of layering it and wearing a statement necklace on top. $70

Finally I stopped in the jewelry section. I've been collecting bracelets lately and this Leonore Dane bauble made me smile.I wear a lot of black (I'm a New Yorker) and this is a playful way to accessorize. $40

Success! A head-to-toe designer look for under $250. I wore this outfit to the Nicholas K show and out to fashion-related events. The bag has scored so many compliments.
