Red, or scarlet, which is a HOT fall 2013 color trend, can sometimes be an intimidating color to wear. I'm all about the bold statement this smokin' shade makes, but some might find it a bit TOO bold for their taste. If you're in the latter camp, the solution is to work red into your wardrobe in small doses.
An easy way to wear red is by going with a classic red lipstick or mani. A red pout and/or nails instantly amps up your look! If you're ready to go a step further, add some red shoes into the mix. For instance, I styled bright red cowboy boots with an eShakti chambray maxi and leopard scarf. The temperature is still wickedly hot here, but I'm definitely ready for fall fashion, so I've been adding fall-ready pieces like boots and scarves to my summer maxis to make them more appropriate for fall. When I was sent these killer Red Torino boots from Justin, I knew they would be perfect for my summer to fall transitional wardrobe!
If red boots are a bit much for you, try on a simple pair of flats for size.Tieks was kind enough to let me try out a pair of their ruby red flats and I've barely taken them off since I got them. If you're looking for a pair of shoes that will add a fun pop of color to your look while being sublimely comfortable, these flats are for you! I rocked them with a black and white print London Times dress, chunky gold link arm candy and a braided top knot at the Fashion Forward Conference.
And if you're ready to add even more red to your look than a pair of shoes can provide, how about a red cardy? I picked up this tomato red cardigan trimmed with gold buttons at Banana Republic and already I can tell it's going to be getting a lot of play this fall. For this look, I cuffed a pair of skinny jeans from Rose Royce Jeans and added a couple layered necklaces from BaubleBar and Target, as well as Hush Puppies Ceil Slip On leopard moccasins. These mocs are definitely going to be go-tos for me. They're crazy comfortable and, as I'm sure you can tell, I'm a bit obsessed with animal prints, so they instantly became a favorite. What can I say? I'm a sucker for leopard prints...and red too for that matter!
So, now that I've shown you how to wear red, are you ready to rock it too?
