If kids do anything, it's grow...and grow FAST! That's exactly why I'm not keen on investing in a ton of new clothing in any particular size, because before I know it they're on to the next size. And that's why remixing is so important. When you carefully select pieces that you can mix and match and style many different ways, you end up with a much more versatile wardrobe. I'm also fond of pieces that you can dress up and down with ease. It just makes things simpler when you have go-to looks that can be rearranged.
So, when I was working on my daughter's summer wardrobe, I kept the "art of remixing" principle in mind and went for some pieces that I could seamlessly interchange. And the focus at hand, beyond remixing is athleisure. While it took me a while to warm up to this trend, I am fully on board now. In fact, I'll be sharing a few of my favorite new athleisure pieces next week, but in the meantime I wanted to show you how my baby girl is rockin' hers!
First up we have my new mommy and me obsession...Mira Rae. You'll get to see my metallic leggings very soon, but I'm not sure they look as cute on me as they do on my baby girl. I mean how ADORABLE are these leggings? And they're just perfect with her swingy Uma top. But the fun doesn't end there. What's more versatile than a metallic? Not much! These leggings work great with one of our favorite pieces from the Gap X Marvel collab too! This two in one tank is business in the front and PARTY in the back, all the while being sublimely comfy.
Comfort is always a top priority for me when I'm shopping for my kids' clothes which is why athleisure is such a natural fit. You may remember me mentioning Burt's Bees Baby a a time or two and that's for a good reason. My kids would live in that line day in and day out given the choice. Nothing beats their premium organic cotton. So, I find myself turning to their pieces when I'm remixing too. This tie dye tee can be worn a million and one different ways!
So, now that you've seen how we're remixing this summer, I hope we've inspired you to do the same!
P.S. Remember when I mentioned how much I like clothing that can be dressed up or down? I'm so seeing the metallic leggings with a leather jacket and oversized sweater for fall...but I digress! For more kids' style, check out how my little lady coordinated her look with her American Girl doll!
