I have a number of summer events that require me to dress up a bit. When I'm going to be speaking or hosting, I usually like to wear a summer dress since it makes getting ready so very easy.
I've been singing the praises of the fit and flare for years. It's a universally flattering fit. I'm small chested, and this cut actually adds curves, my friend Jessica Turner has a much more curvy shape. She wore a fabulous yellow fit and flare to the Dory movie premiere last week and looked fabulous!
How to Style It
It's a style for everyone. You're lucky if you like this print dress, it just got reduced by 50% on Banana Republic! This dress has a pretty bold print and a lot of texture. That means I didn't have to do too much to pull together an outfit. I skipped a necklace and instead went for loads of bracelets and a cool bag.
The key is to add just a few accessories. The bag is from Brahmin Bags, its called the Mini Asher. This leather bag has handles and a long strap--but I took the strap off. I loved the pop of pink which made the dress more summery in feel.
Pink is a great summer accessory color. It is a new neutral and works with just about any bright color as well as black and white. If I just left the outfit black and white it would have been meh.
Once again it's a mix of of and new. The booties are old. In fact I just had them re-soled. This Matt Bernson pair has seen a lot of photo shoots. I like the cut and of course the comfort. I'm not one of those bloggers who will wear a new pair every week. You'll see my favorites again and again.
It's All About the Wall
One last shot to share! My neighborhood has some crazy walls. I am lucky to live here and have so many great backdrops. My friend Kim-Marie Evans from Luxury Travel Mom is now joining me for a monthly fashion shoot. You've got to check out her #FashionFriday features--I love the way she rocks shorts. And a huge thank you to Kim-Marie for featuring me here www.luxurytravelmom.com/fashion-friday-my-inspiration/
