In some circles, chambray is a dirty word. For those running in said circles, chambray conjures up bad nineties fashion flashbacks. Think old school 90210...I, personally, had a chambray tank that I rocked so much it literally fell apart. It just went so perfectly with my floral denim shorts. Remember those bad boys? Haha!

Although chambray can go bad fast, it doesn’t have to. In fact, it can be quite chic. Just ask the designers behind Rebecca Taylor, Paul & Joe and Balenciaga to name a few. They all sent gorgeous chambray pieces down their spring 2013 runways.

If you pay attention to the fashion blog set, you’ve probably noticed that the chambray shirt has become a major part of their repertoire. From tutus to sparkles, top style bloggers have dressed up the chambray shirt every which way you can imagine.

For us moms, those looks might not always be the most realistic. While I would love to flit around in a Carrie Bradshaw worthy tutu, it’s not happening on the regular. Luckily for us, there are plenty of ways to style chambray out there and a chambray shirt isn’t the only piece that would make your spring wardrobe stand out! Not that I want you to give up on adding a classic chambray shirt to your closet. They’re ridiculously comfortable and one with a print like polka dots really ups the fun factor!

One of my favorite style bloggers, the lovely lady behind Grit & Glamour is quite sick of the tutu and chambray shirt pairing…I dedicate this post to you lady. Here’s to ways you can style chambray in the absence of tulle!

You can try a cute little shirtdress or even a flippy little chambray skirt on for size. Both pieces are perfect for running the countless errands that always seem to come up for us moms

If you really want to step outside the box, a pair of chambray smoking slippers is a super fun way to take on the trend. They would look fabulous with a plain old tee and a pair of bright colored boyfriend pants!

No matter how you wear your chambray, just remember that Brenda Walsh might not be the best fashion icon to channel when you’re styling your look. And if you don’t know who Brenda Walsh is, please leave me a comment and I will be happy to regale you with stories on why I’ll forever be firmly on Team Brenda versus Team Kelly. Until next week lovelies…
