I've enjoyed working a preppy vibe into my wardrobe for as long as I can remember...Even when it wasn't necessarily on trend as it is this spring. My mom loved dressing my sister and I up in perfectly preppy looks when we were little, matching hair bows and all. I've carried that affection for preppy looks on into adulthood. Now I just need to have another little girl so I can dress both my daughters up in matching preppy looks like my mom did. Haha!
I may have outgrown a giant hair bow (ok, I may still enjoy them from time to time, ha ha), but I definitely haven't moved past preppy influenced looks. Preppy pieces were splashed across the spring 2014 runways, so you'll find no shortage of them in the shopsphere this year. And what's preppier than a nice stripe? Whether we're talking about nautical , rugby, Breton or even railroad versions, stripes give off a classic Americana or, if you prefer, Parisian vibe that are a perfect match for crisp spring looks.
I may got all dressed up in my Sunday best in the springtime, but for the most part, I typically lean toward fresh, casual pieces when I'm compiling my spring wardrobe. Stripe tees, shirts, dresses and even a stripe band watch would all be welcome additions to my closet.
Plus, they will all work during that tricky transition period that exists before spring officially begins. The tees can be worn with cardies or a cute jean jacket, as can the dresses. The pants can be paired with a light sweater, the shirt with your favorite pair of boyfriend jeans and the watches with any of the above!
So, are you ready to rock spring stripes too lovelies?
