Being a kiddo in the eighties means I had a front row seat for the rise of the boat shoes...The preppy look was HUGE during the Brat Pack era and while it's never really gone away, it has transformed over the years like any trend...And now that I'm grown up, I often find myself adding modern preppy pieces to my wardrobe to satisfy that prep lovin' little girl I used to be. I would have to say that I'm a bit of a Fashion Chameleon though...I don't stick with one signature look all the time. Sometimes I go for a boho vibe...Sometimes my outfit is on the edgier side...And sometimes I go the preppy route. And one such preppy piece that I've always been drawn to is the boat shoe.
I remember being a little girl and seeing teenagers with their long tan stems rockin' boat shoes and I so wanted a pair of my own. Well, this super fair skinned grown up girl might not exactly have the tan legs (haha), but I do have the boat shoes! Sebago was kind enough to send over a gorgeous pair of their Docksides boat shoes that are going to be big time MVPs in my fashion lineup.
I can so see these Sebago beauties being rocked with everything from a striped tee and shorts to a cute little flippy skirt this spring. For this particular look, I paired my boat shoes with white denim, a chambray shirt and pastel pink accents in the form of a leather tassel necklace and Alex + Ani bracelets!

Spiked Apple Cider Pops
September in the South is, in my opinion, still summer. The eighties and nineties always prevail and make the traditional fall flavors that I crave so much slightly out of reach. As much as I want to relax and sip on some hot cider, at the moment, I still need something iced. ...read more
