Behind the scenes at fashion week is where I love to be. Sure seeing the models walk the catwalk is exciting--but nothing like the action behind the stage.
Today, I joined the Mark team at the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2012 show (plus the adorable Lara from www.theglossarie.com). We were all fixated on the magic that happens before the first step. Rebecca Minkoff was the beauty and the brains of the operation. The new mom (her 6 mos old son was there--adorable) was calm, cool and collected as she herded models and put the finishing touches on her 28 looks.
This line is "for a girl with moxie--fearless and unfettered." And the show was rocking--literally. There was a live performance by Theophilus London--look him up, he's incredible.
The line had amazing knits and the leather jackets made me swoon. And don't even get me started on the handbags. I'm going to have to sell a lot of ad packages to earn one of those juicy treats.
Behind the curtain at Lincoln center is where it all comes together. The back area was split in three sections--dressing, hair and makeup. I was thrilled to see make-up artist Mai Quynh working her brushes. The line had delicious color--Minkoff calls them "bold jewel tones," to suit the clothes, Mai picked a rich, textured plummy eye created with items from the Mark line.
She layered three colors in an ombre effect--gorgeous. And then keep the lip to a little stain and a hint of shine on the cheeks--fresh and so pretty.
Tresseme was in charge of hair and they whipped up relaxed buns with loose strands--again easy to achieve and perfection with the clothes.
As stated, the show rocked. After the crowd dissipated, I got to meet the lovely Rebecca thanks to my friend Latham. I asked the designer the secret to her amazing post-baby body and she replied her crazy schedule and breastfeeding (we love her candor).
