My Non Maternity Wardrobe

Having this be my third pregnancy, I am pretty concious about what maternity items I am purchasing. I believe this will be my last pregnancy, and I want to have pieces in my wardrobe that can be worn after I give birth rather than a bunch of maternity items I will no longer use. Of course, some items you need to purchase maternity such as jeans, but tops do not have to be maternity wear.

My non maternity looks

I've always loved the brand Free People, and decided to purchase some of their flowy tunics and sweaters this season. Even a dress can be turned into a tunic when pregnant. I think if you just go one or two sizes up, tops will fit your pregnant belly just fine. Try not to have the blouses too puffy or else it will not flatter your bump. Zara andAll Saints are two other companies I turn to for my non maternity wardrobe.

Don't disgard those suit jackets in your wardrobe when pregnant. I have worn a couple of my non maternity suit jackets over a tunic while pregnant as well. Of course my suit jacket won't button but it will compliments over a flowy top. Another option would be to throw on a little cardigan, since it is the winter months and can be chilly at times.

As for pants, keep it simple. I usually have on black leggings, which you can purchase anywhere but I have been wearing pairs from H&M and American Apparel. I have also found faux leather pants from Zara that have an elastic waistband, and perfect for an expanding belly. These pants are great for nighttime dress up.

For shoes, its really hard to walk around in heels these days, but I have found the perfect height shoe from Sam Edelman, called the Lisle shoe which comes in three different distressed colors and are reasonably priced.

By purchasing some non maternity pieces for your closet, you are actually saving money since sometimes maternity fashions can be quite costly. Have fun with you wardrobe during pregnancy and mix it up a little! Which non maternity brand is your favorite?
