Midi skirts are the perfect pick for holiday. They flatter most figures and can be extremely versatile. When I was in the Talbots showroom a few weeks ago, I was swooning for the florals. Yes, I did see a lot of big, lush spring florals on my editor's visit, but I was even more excited by the oversized prints for holiday.
We're used to prints and plaids this time of year, but florals? They feel so fresh and unexpected. Of all the pieces I saw, this was the one skirt that needed to find it's way into my closet; the rose-print pleated skirt from Talbots.
Let's talk about the length for a moment. It's below the knee and above the ankle. In the past few years, the midi skirt has made a big comeback. Maybe it was all those Mad Men parties, maybe it's a reaction to all the distressed boyfriends jeans...who knows why this ultra-feminine silhouette took off? I'm just glad it did.
The length shows off the nicest part of your legs and also nips in at the smallest part of your waist. It's a curvy-girls friend and also helps build some curves for those who need them.
Have you tried on this trend? Would you wear it for a party? I'm planning on wearing the trend this season. When it's time to get dressed up, I'll pair the skirt with a simple tee or turtleneck and some festive accessories like this Stella & Dot necklace, clutch from Zac Posen and Jimmy Choo shoes. Each piece is over 3 years old, showing you that one great new piece can revive your whole holiday outlook. The skirt retails for $149, and now I'm ready for the invites to start rolling in.
I simply added a black t-neck sweater on the top with something sparkly from Stella & Dot--the go-to resource for all things sparkly.
